Among the diverse collections that Elmbridge Museum houses, the items relating to food connect closely to our daily lives.

Our food related collections reflect creativity, innovation, and adaptations across different time periods. They themselves are more than just objects – they can evoke lovely memories of food and beyond, by communicating with people in the modern day.

This display showcases three key aspects of historic food: local bakeries; supermarkets and groceries; and food in the home. Through these themes, we can gain a glimpse of what we had in the past, and connect to what we have now.

The display can be viewed during Walton Library’s open hours. Click here to see these on the Surrey Libraries website.
