In recent years, ethical considerations for using these materials have led to a significant decline in their popularity. Faux options are now appearing within some designs of major fashion brands and in shops along the high street.
Should animals still be exploited for our benefit? In this display, we highlight some of the animal skin clothing items and accessories from the Museum’s collection and consider why these items were staple wardrobe pieces.
