Amy Gentry was a trailblazer in British rowing and a driving force behind opportunities for women in the sport. In 1926, she founded the Weybridge Ladies Amateur Rowing Club (WLARC), and went on to become one of rowing’s most formidable competitors—claiming the British singles sculls championship three years in a row (1932–1934) before retiring undefeated. In 2026, we mark the centenary of the club she established, a lasting testament to her vision and determination.
